Parish Mission Statement

St. Francis Cathedral Basilica is a Eucharistically centered faith community whose life is formed by our baptismal commitment to Christ, nourished by scripture, supported by membership in the worldwide Roman Catholic  communion of believers, and put into practice by our involvement in the world about us.  It is a community with a long and rich history, where all are welcome, trust is present, risks for the Kingdom of God are taken, and where the gifts of everyone are called forth. Under the protection of La Conquistadora and the patronage of St. Francis of Assisi, we strive to be instruments of peace and all that God knows us to be.

PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS

LORD,
make me an instrument of Your Peace,
where there is hatred let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O DIVINE MASTER,
grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled, as to console
to be understood, as to understand
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving, that we receive
it is in pardoning, that we are pardoned
and it is in dying that we are born
to eternal life.
